Fisherman Mike Martin went out hoping to reel in some perch when he came across a gigantic goldfish. Martin found the specimen in Lake St. Clair, Michigan, on Friday, January 11.
This goldfish is much larger than those raised at home. At a weight of 3 pounds (1.3 kg) and a length of 15 inches (38 cm), it could be a record breaking-find. Martin looked into previous records but couldn't find any data, because goldfish aren't registered in the “record fish” category.
Since getting his hands on a fish which is notoriously hard to catch, Martin has weighed what he should do with it.
"This will probably be the only one I ever catch so he's going to go on the wall," Martin decides, according to Click on Detroit.
