Fish killed in a traffic accident in California should get a memorial, PETA says

About two and a half weeks ago, a truck carrying fish to several markets across the US got into a traffic accident and ended up turned upside-down.

Naturally, the fish tanks it was transporting cracked, and the fish made their way onto the pavement.

Some of them died on the spot, as a result of the injuries they suffered, whereas the remaining ones suffocated later on as a result of oxygen deprivation.

PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) now asks that Irvine, California (i.e. the place where this accident took place) erect a memorial to mark the tragic death of these fish.

“Had the accident claimed human lives, it wouldn't have been surprising to see a memorial erected for the victims,” reads this organization's official website.

Furthermore, “So, because fish feel pain, value their lives, and don't want to die, just like human beings, PETA has requested that Irvine allow us to place a sign at the accident site in their memory.”
