OCZ has once again made a move on the solid state drive market, creating a pair of product lines that aren't easy to tell apart by looks, though their insides to mark them as fairly distinct, what with different controller chips and capacity ranges.

The solid state drive market is bound to keep growing, especially with all the new form factors and interface options available.

OCZ is one of the companies that has been with this device type for many months now, always keeping an eye out for the latest elements it might incorporate.

Right now, the SandForce 2000 series and Indilinx Barefoot ECO lines of controller chips are two of the major powers when it comes to determining SSD performance.

OCZ decided not to choose between them, so it created two distinct lines of SSDs, both of them designed with the mSATA form factor.

The Nocti Series is the one featuring the SandForce 2141/2181 chips and contains three members, with capacities of 30 GB, 60 GB and 120 GB, respectively.

In that order, they sell for 59.24, 104.34 and 190.53 Euro and have maximum read/write speeds of 280/255 MB/s, 280/260 MB/s and, again, 280/260 MB/s, respectively.

Furthermore, the first two have 4k random write performance of 12,500 IOPS, while the 120 GB one has 32,000 IOPS.

Meanwhile, the Strata series utilize Indilinx Barefoot ECO and are only in two capacities, of 30 GB and 60 GB.

With prices of 45.51 Euro and 81 Euro, they have 750 IOPS and 1,500 IOPS, respectively, plus maximum read and write speeds of 125/40 MB/s and 130/85 MB/s, respectively.

All of them communicate with the system via the SATA 3.0 Gbps interface and measure 29.85 (L) x 50.9 (W) x 4.75 (H) mm. MLC (multilevel cell) NAND Flash memory is used and the MTBF is of 1 million hours.
