A bunch of talented Germans have worked up the first real iPhone 5 mockup that you can actually hold in your hands and compare to existing hardware.

The device was spawned based on the most plausible rumors about the next-generation handset, including the four-inch screen, the wider form factor, the elongated home button and, most importantly, the sleek teardrop-shaped design.

Apple’s fifth-generation iPhone is expected to arrive with a tapered back reminiscent of the iPod touch and iPad 2 designs. The mockup presented by giga.de can well be compared to the first-generation iPhone as well, though it’s clearly much better looking than Apple’s first stab at the smartphone industry.

Many, however, believe Apple is not changing the design on its next iPhone by much (compared to the iPhone 4). Looking at this concept device, though, that would be a shame, to say the least. What do you guys think?
