MW Research and Development, Inc. has confirmed plans to release its first iPad 2 application. CamoScience, a new type of hybrid app, allegedly converts photos into camouflage designs. The app will be available for other touch-screen devices as well.

Described as a photo application that turns site-specific photography into what Craig Hunter calls "Photographic Camouflage," CamoScience reportedly blends its inventor’s advanced knowledge of augmented-reality and the Photographic Camouflage concept created by MW Research and Development.

Hunter is a NASA engineer. He and his brother, Todd Hunter are well known for their U.S. Navigation solution - the Theodolite app for the iPhone 4.

“CamoScience will […] let users design Photographic Camouflage into a touch-screen grip for the iPad 2,” according to MW Research.

“Touchscreen grips provide functional, hand-traction grip to keep your iPad 2 safely in your grasp while mobile,” the company’s report adds.

To achieve this, an extremely thin, adhesive graphic "skin" with a unique frictional, micro-terrain surface is used.

Apple is yet to confirm the existence of the second-generation iPad, but MW Research and Development seems confident that the device is coming.

A video accompanying the announcement aims to show how the solution will perform.

"Photographic Camouflage and CamoScience can apply not only to the military, but also to commercial uses for hunters, outdoorsmen, and custom clothing designers," said K. Dominic Cincotti, MW Research and Development President. "Camouflage is more popular than ever."

It isn’t clear how or when the CamoScience tool will be provided, as MW Research and Development provides no further details than the ones specified above.

Apple is holding a special event on Wednesday, March 2, at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, where the company is poised to unveil the iPad 2.
