Renderings aim to depict the health-centric application in iOS 8

The rumored “Healthbook” application making its way into iOS 8 is said to borrow UI elements from the existing Passbook app, including the stack of cards that can be easily swiped up and down.

MacRumors forum member CarlosGQ delivers these two images aiming to depict what the app would look like on an iPhone. He used 9to5mac’s earlier leak for guidance:

“The new health and fitness application’s interface is a stack of cards that can be easily swiped between. Each card represents a different fitness or health data point. The prototype logo for ‘Healthbook’ is similar to Passbook’s icon, but it is adorned with graphics representing vital signs.”

The same 9to5mac contacted its sources about these renderings, asking for an opinion regarding their accuracy. Not surprisingly, the sources said, “the mockups are ‘vaguely’ the right idea.”

Apple’s iOS 8 is still far away and the company is probably swapping UI elements faster than you can pronounce them. As the software approaches its launch, undoubtedly there will be more accurate depictions of the Healthbook app, and even other apps and services.

To be noted that “Healthbook” is actually the (internal) codename for this fitness/health app, not its real dubbing. Chances are Apple hasn’t even settled on the final nomenclature for this tool.

For those who haven’t been in the loop lately, Healthbook is said to be an app that helps your iPhone communicate with the upcoming iWatch.

The smartwatch itself is said to be packed with sensors that track blood pressure, hydration levels, glucose levels, etc., as well as the number of steps taken, miles walked, and calories burned.

It is unclear if iWatch will also sport a version of iOS 8 and / or the Healthbook app, in a stripped-down form, of course. So far, the details that have been leaking out only seem to pertain to the iPhone side.
