Microsoft might complete development of the new OS sooner rather than later, so a device could launch in May

Microsoft is expected to finally take the wraps off Windows Phone 10 Preview next week, during a special Windows 10 event, but a new report claims that development of this new mobile platform could go faster than initially expected.

As a result, the very first devices running Windows Phone 10 could arrive as soon as May, a new report claims, citing none other than Windows Phone device manufacturer Yezz Mobile.

Details are obviously very scarce right now, but WinFuture.de claims that Yezz Mobile officials confirmed that they worked closely with Microsoft to make this possible, so devices running a new version of Windows Phone could see daylight in the first months of 2015.

Previously, it was believed that Windows Phone 10 could launch together with Windows 10 in the fall of 2015, but it appears that Microsoft wants to bring new devices to the market as soon as possible.

Yezz Billy 5S LTE likely to run Windows Phone 10

The same report suggests that Yezz Billy 5S LTE, a phone that was presented earlier this month at CES 2015, could be the first model to hit the shelves with Windows Phone 10, but this information doesn't seem to be confirmed by the official site of the company.

Right now, Yezz claims on its page that Billy 5S LTE runs Windows Phone 8.1, but until it becomes available worldwide, that could obviously change.

The device, however, features impressive specs and comes with a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, dual SIM support, a 5-inch IPS HD capacitive display, 8 GB of internal storage, and 1 GB of RAM. A 13-megapixel camera with autofocus is also installed on the back of the device, while a 5-megapixel unit is available on the front for video calling.

More details on Microsoft's plans for Windows Phone should be unveiled next week, during the aforementioned event.

A first preview of Windows Phone 10 is also expected to be released shortly after the event, and according to Microsoft itself, all devices powered by Windows Phone 8 should be able to run it just fine.
