We’ve already told you that Microsoft is working on a new version of the Fresh Paint app for Windows Blue that could bring several major improvements, but here’s the first leaked video that shows the program in action.

Stephen Chapman of MSFTKitchen has posted a video from a confidential meeting held at Microsoft during the TechFest 2013 event, which confirms that the Redmond-based technology company has already developed the new Fresh Paint software solution and it’s now giving it the last touches.

As you can see for yourselves in the clip, the new version would bring watercolor support in addition to the traditional oil paints, as well as the ability to import a specific image and transpose it to watercolor mode.

While Microsoft’s Chief Technical Strategy Officer, Eric Rudder, doesn’t reveal too many details about Windows Blue, he does confirm the name, even though it’s not yet clear whether the software company plans to use the same designation for the final product as well.

According to previous reports, Windows Blue is expected to serve as the first major upgrade for Windows 8, the operating system launched in October 2012 that’s reportedly failing to excite.

Blue is rumored to arrive in August, while the first public beta might be launched sometime in June, just to give users a glimpse into the first Windows 8 upgrade.

As for the improvements to be packed into Blue, sources familiar with the matter are pointing to the first beta of Internet Explorer 11, the next version of Microsoft’s in-house browser also expected to feature speed and stability improvements.

In addition, Windows Blue is likely to spawn a new range of tablets, as the operating system would be specifically optimized for smaller units, including 7- and 8-inch devices, some of which could be tailored for gaming purposes.
