The motherboard is designed for the enterprise version of the OS

Microsoft's Windows 8 operating system is the newest OS that the company released, with Windows RT being a version customized for ARM platforms.

The problem, so to speak, with Windows 8 is that it was made with consumers in mind, and with a user interface that might throw people off-kilter if they are used to something seemingly more straightforward after dealing with Windows XP and Windows 7.

That is why Microsoft developed the Windows 8.1 operating system. The OS isn't quite out yet, but it will be better suited to business and enterprise applications.

MSI has now revealed the first motherboard certified for use with that operating system: Z87-G43.

Soon enough, there will be plenty of Windows 8.1-certified platforms, so MSI won't have this advantage for long.

And it's not as though all other motherboards will have problems running the new OS version. This is more of an extra guarantee than anything else.
