Louis Bloom knows that you can’t win the lottery if you don’t have money for a ticket

Late last year, Jake Gyllenhaal was working on a movie for which he’d lost so much weight that he was barely recognizable. Called “Nightcrawler” and directed by Dan Gilroy (who also penned the script), not many details about it have been made public – but at least we’re getting a first look at Jake in character.

The video below surfaced on Craigslist under the name of Louis Bloom, freelance crime journalist played by Gyllenhaal, The Wrap informs.

No word yet if it includes actual footage from the film or if it’s a viral shot after production wrapped, but at the very least, it offers fans a first look at an intense and quite scary / deranged Gyllenhaal. It’s called “Hard Worker Seeking Employment” and sees Bloom plead with a potential employer while exposing his life’s philosophy.

The video was accompanied by a text reading, “no job too big or too small. I have my own car and phone. Persistent, punctual, polite and hardworking.” Also, insane.

The film also stars Bill Paxton, Rene Russo, and Riz Ahmed and will be out in theaters this October. It’s already premiered at Cannes Film Festival in May, to solid reviews: some critics are convinced that this will be Gyllenhaal’s “Taxi Driver,” for which he’s bound to land a Best Oscar nomination, and hopefully, win.

We all know the Academy loves physical transformations so, if Jake delivers as he promises he will in this viral video, who’s to say, he might actually walk home with an Oscar in February 2015.
