“Love can change what we want. War can change who we are” says the tagline for Angelina Jolie's directorial debut, “In the Land of Blood and Honey.” The first trailer for it has just been released.

The film comes out on December 23, just in time for Oscar season. By the looks of the first trailer, it stands good chances at getting at least a nod, which would be an amazing achievement for Jolie, who is making her directorial debut with it, on a script she wrote herself.

The film is a love story between a man and a woman on different sides of the Bosnian war.

Goran Kostic plays a Christian Serb, while Zana Marjanovic is a Bosniak woman. They fall in love before the conflict begins and are forced to choose sides the minute it starts.

In recent interviews, writer / director Angelina Jolie has said that she didn't want to portray the war in a subjective light, but rather to present a love story against its background.

She seems to be doing a wonderful job at that, voices online are already pointing out. Check out the trailer above.
