14 DAY TRIAL // Earlier this year, the first photos of a much heavier Christian Bale started making the rounds, which could only mean one thing: he was already at work on a new movie. That project turned out to be a David O. Russell film, which got its first teaser trailer hours ago.
Called “American Hustle,” it’s set in the ‘70s and tells the story of a pair of con artists who are forced to team up with a federal agent to help catch other criminals, including the Mayor of Camden, New Jersey.
Believed to be loosely based on the Abscam scandal, the film has a stellar cast that includes, besides Bale, Bradley Cooper in a really hilarious perm as the undercover agent, Amy Adams as Bale’s partner in crime, Jennifer Lawrence and Jeremy Renner.
By the looks of this first trailer, you can almost sense the Oscar hype the film will be getting.
“American Hustle” opens wide in theaters on December 25.
