It should be able to replenish your smartphone's charge anywhere

Chargers usually need to be plugged inside a power socket of some sort, but that's not true for the latest one that Sony released, called Sony CP-W5.

To be truthful, the CP-W5 is the first wireless charger that Sony has ever made, if the latest in the grand scheme of things.

You would think that the company would start out slow, with the tried and true formula, but that's not the case.

Sony, instead, chose to make an impression from the start, so it gave the wireless charger its very own battery.

That means it's portable, capable of refilling the charge of your smartphone's battery at any time and in any place.

The performance differs between battery and wall plug use though. When it's plugged in, the Sony CP-W5 delivers 1.5 A, but when the battery is used, the power falls to 1.0 A.

That said, the battery in the charging plate should be able to retain 90% of its charge capacity after 1000 charge cycles. That's not bad really.

Sales should begin next month, for a price that hasn't yet been unveiled. Only devices that support the Qi inductive power standard are supported, so make sure to check your product manual or box for the logo.
