Gillian Flynn’s novel “Gone Girl” became one of the most talked about movies of the year in 2014: it had an excellent story (Flynn also wrote the script), was flawlessly directed by David Fincher, and had stunning performances from Rosamund Pike and Ben Affleck.

Another one of Flynn’s novels, “Dark Places,” is getting the big screen treatment this year, and available above, you will find the first international poster for it. “Dark Places” doesn’t have an exact date of release for the US, but it will open in many European countries next month.

As The Playlist also points out, it’s surprising  how a film with such an impressive cast, from an author as appreciated as Flynn, who made it possible for one of the most solid movies of last year to be made, is getting so little promotion back in the good old U.S. of A.

“Dark Places” tells the story of a woman who survives a terrible tragedy that kills her entire family, except for her brother, who is charged and found guilty of their murder. Years after the fact, she is contacted by a “secret society obsessed with solving notorious crimes” and made to believe she would finally be getting some answers after all this time.

Charlize Theron stars as the female lead, with Nicholas Hoult, Chloe Grace-Moretz, Christina Hendricks and Drea de Matteo appearing in supporting roles. “Dark Places” is directed by Gilles Paquet-Brenner.
