He may be 62 years old, but Sylvester Stallone can justly be called a “force of nature,” as several publications have already rushed to do once the first photo from “The Expendables” movie set was released into the wild. Bulked up and looking extremely good for his age, this picture hints at an amazing action movie coming our way in 2010.

Courtesy of AintItCoolNews, the photo shows the actor in extraordinary shape and covered in tattoos, which has already prompted some to say that Barney, the character he will be taking on next month, when shooting for “The Expendables” begins, will certainly be a tough one, to say the least. Then again, since this is a story of a bunch of mercenaries on a mission, it’s only understandable that Sylvester, along with the entire cast, be in top shape.

“Stallone is unbelievably cut for someone in his sixties. But it’s just one of those things that is still just stunning to behold. The […] photo is the look that Stallone is going for, when he begins shooting ‘The Expendables’ next month.” the guys at AintItCoolNews write in awe of the legendary actor who can still pull off such physically demanding roles – and quite amazingly, if one thinks about it.

Although a bit ridiculed when first announced, “The Expendables,” written and directed by Stallone himself, has already managed to get the attention of the majority of moviegoers. Other than the amazing cast, which includes the likes of Mickey Rourke, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Forest Whitaker, Stallone himself and Sandra Bullock (only rumored at this point), “The Expendables” has also got people talking about it because it promises to be action-packed, to the point of saturation.

Focusing on the story of a group of mercenaries who travel to some far-away land to overthrow a dictator, “The Expendables” is scheduled to begin principal photography in March, with a release date set tentatively for 2010. However, by the looks of this photo and the reaction it has got so far, it’s probably safe to say that fans will be hearing more of this Stallone production.
