Valve has revealed the first image of the Linux-based Steam Machine that’s scheduled to arrive sometime in 2014.

Valve has been rather shy with the design of the new Steam Machine, but the first image with the new PC / console has appeared online, courtesy of seattletimes.com.

It's not very impressive-looking, and it resembles the already announced Xbox One and PlayStation 4. You have to keep in mind that this is just a prototype and that, most likely, the design is going to change until its launch in 2014.

In case you forgot, Steam Machines will run a custom Linux distribution called Steam OS, which in all likelihood is based on Ubuntu.

Valve has already released the hardware specifications of the new console, and it's not going to be cheap. We'll keep you up to date with any more details about the upcoming Steam Machines.
