Intel may not have entirely moved from LGA, replaceable socket chips to BGA, soldered ones, but its use of the latter is growing, especially in things like the NUC, which just got an update.

As people might have been able to guess even without us mentioning it in the title, Intel has upgraded its Next Unit of Computing mini PC.

The new chip is a dual-core HTT, 1.30-2.60 GHz Haswell model (fourth-generation Core-series) with 3 MB of L3 cache and HD 5000 graphics (UHD support).

Other than that, the NUC gets a QS77 chipset, two DDR3 SO-DIMM memory slots (16 GB max capacity at 1600 MHz), a SATA 6 Gbps port, Gigabit Ethernet, a full-height mPCIe gen 2.0 slot, two USB 2.0 ports, four USB 3.0 connectors and a 65W power supply.

The new Intel NUC Kit (D54250WYK), as always, is compatible with VESA wall-mounts, so it can be stuck to the back of your monitor.
