MobileMe customers are reporting that the first wave of refunds is coming in. Apple is no longer allowing customers to create a new 60-day trial account or start a new subscription using a code contained in a MobileMe box, and is refunding those who recently purchased or renewed their service.

Those who have a renewal pending and it isn’t applied are eligible for a refund. However, they have to request it.

Cultofmac appropriately notes that it isn’t clear if users who recently paid for a renewal will get a refund too, though we’re pretty sure they will.

Apple recently posted a Support document bearing the frequently asked questions about the MobileMe transition and iCloud.

Just this past Friday, Apple quietly updated the knowledge base article to make sure users understand who is eligible for a refund and who is not, as well as the entire disruption (so to speak) that the impending iCloud arrival is causing.

“Effective June 6, 2011, if you had an active MobileMe account, your service has been automatically extended through June 30, 2012, at no additional charge,” Apple states. “After this, the MobileMe service will no longer be available.”

Those asking what will happen to the content they have on MobileMe are being told that iCloud, the new suite of Internet services from Apple coming this fall, will allow users to keep their me.com or mac.com email address, as well as to move their mail, contacts, calendars, and bookmarks to the new service.

The Mac maker adds that “When iCloud becomes available this fall, more details and instructions will be provided on how to make the move,” most likely addressing those who would also like to know how to transfer their iDisk contents.

Those who purchased a MobileMe box and have not used the activation code inside are being assured that they can get refund for it.

“Yes. If you have an unused activation code from a MobileMe box, you can submit a refund request,” the Cupertino giant confirms.
