While Microsoft is still struggling to cope with the Surface Pro 128 GB shortage, plenty of early buyers complain about what seems to be the first bug spotted on the device.

According to a post on the Microsoft support forums, the Surface pen stops working all of a sudden, with an unofficial workaround suggesting a rather painful fix.

The only way to make the pen work once again is to uninstall it from “Device Manager” and reboot the tablet. Afterwards, users need to reinstall the pen with the same drivers, so it may after all be just a simple driver problem.

Since it’s not a hardware issue, Microsoft will most likely fix the problem next month with its Patch Tuesday updates, even though this means that customers will have to wait a few more weeks to get a fully working pen.
