The first details about the upcoming Medal of Honor: Warfighter first person shooter have just appeared, including info about its technical specs, its story, as well as the multiplayer mode.

The Medal of Honor reboot that appeared back in 2010 impressed through its gritty realism but, sadly, didn’t become that popular.

With Warfighter, Electronic Arts’ Danger Close studio is focusing on authenticity, once again telling stories about missions executed in real life by Tier 1 Operators. The story is actually co-written by Danger Close with former operators.

Characters from the previous game, including Preacher, Voodoo, or Mother, will make a comeback and are set to visit locations like the flooded Isabela City from the Philippines, meaning the story isn’t set just in the Middle East.

More choices will be given to players this time around, including some tactical decisions like busting down a door with physical force or by using explosives like C4.

The whole game is powered by the Frostbite 2 engine, allowing it to display different sorts of visual effects that highlight the realistic gameplay. What’s more, for really dedicated players, there’s a hardcore mode where one shot kills both you and your enemies.

The competitive multiplayer focuses on other Tier 1 forces from all around the world including the British SAS, the Australian SASR, the German KSK, or the Polish Grom.

Some sort of cooperative mode is rumored, but OXM believes that it won’t be fully supported by the actual story campaign. Instead, players can expect some special missions like the Spec Ops ones from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 or the ones from Battlefield 3.

No other details are known as of yet, but Electronic Arts is set to fully reveal Medal of Honor: Warfighter next week during the GDC in San Francisco.

Until then, expect to hear some more rumors and speculations.
