14 DAY TRIAL // This summer, the gang from the unexpected critical and commercial hit “Magic Mike” will be back together for the sequel, aptly called “Magic Mike XXL.” The first two official photos from the production have been released.
The first one is a shot of leading man Channing Tatum doing what he does best: being shirtless, dancing, making the ladies swoon.
The second one, released by Tatum himself on social media, is actually a teaser poster, also featuring him in mid-pose, with a cap on and no shirt, pointing towards his pelvis. Since he’s playing an exotic dancer, we expected no less from him.
The only member of the cast who won’t return for “Magic Mike XXL” is Matthew McConaughey, who is now an Oscar-winner; rumor has it that he dropped out of the sequel right after he won Best Actor last year, for his role in “Dallas Buyers Club,” when he realized being in a stripper movie would no longer look good on his resume. Allegedly, of course.
Besides Tatum, Matt Bomer and Joe Manganiello, new additions to the cast include Michael Strahan, Elizabeth Banks and Amber Heard. Gregory Jacobs is directing off a script that Tatum co-wrote with Reid Carolin.
As you probably know, the original was also written by Channing and was based on his start in showbiz, when he had to dance and take his clothes off to make ends meet. “XXL” will take the gang on the road, so we should probably expect more fun to be had – and according to Jacobs, more shirtless scenes too.
