Taylor Lautner is about to make his silver screen debut as a lead outside the “Twilight” franchise, in a thriller called “Abduction.” The first photo from it is out, while the trailer will be released on April 13 during an MTV special.

The first promo pic (which you can also see attached here) shows Lautner and co-star Lily Collins, daughter of singer Phil Collins and the recently-cast Snow White, making a run for their lives.

The film tells the story of a young man who discovers nothing in his life is what he thought it was – and he’s suddenly in a position where he must make a run for it if he wants to remain alive.

“Abduction” is, as celebrity and movie bloggers put it, a make it or break it film, in that it will prove whether Lautner can draw in audiences outside “Twilight.”

Depending on how it fares, movie studios may want to work with him again or, on the contrary, will avoid him.

It’s worthy to mention that, right now, Lautner is among the highest paid young actors in Hollywood, reportedly commanding a paycheck of $10 million for a single movie.

Back to “Abduction,” fans should be able to get an idea of what it will be like when the first trailer airs on MTV on April 13, as a statement from the network informs.

The trailer will be part of a special called “MTV First: Taylor Lautner” and will be followed by a 30-minute Q&A with fans.

“Beginning at 7:56pm ET on MTV and MTV.com, Taylor will introduce the never-before-seen trailer. Immediately following the on-air premiere, Taylor will stay on for a 30-minute interview with Josh on MTV.com where he will answer questions about his role in the film and much more,” MTV says.

Fans can either check out MTV for it or they can keep in touch on Twitter with @MTVNews and the hashtag @AskTaylor, specifically created for them to leave questions for the actor.

“Abduction” is out in theaters in the US on September 23, 2011. Keep an eye on this space for more details.
