This summer, get ready for a hefty dose of Stephen King translated to the small screen: CBS will air a new series called “Under the Dome,” based on King’s book of the same name.

Check out the first look at the show in the video above.

Produced by Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television, the story takes place in Chester’s Mill, a small New England town suddenly sealed off from the world by a giant and transparent dome.

By the looks of the video, there will be a lot of violence and blood, as well as the expected wave of panic at the realization. King himself promises the series will be a 13-episode “event,” truly “riveting TV,” complete with outstanding special effects the kind of which we have not seen in any other series now on TV.

Niels Arden Oplev, who directed the original “Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” helms the first episode.

“Under the Dome” stars Chad Vogel, Rachel Lefevre, Dean Norris, Jolene Purdy, Nicholas Strong, Britt Robertson, Aisha Hinds, Alex Koch, Natalie Martinez and Colin Ford.
