Disney is working hard to release as many live-action adaptations of fairytales until the trend dies down. One of them, and perhaps the most hyped, is for “Into the Woods,” which combines several well-known Grimm characters and was initially a musical.

Above is the first official look for the film.

You might think that this is Lady Gaga’s old and evil long-lost sister, but allow me to set things right: that’s the usually incredibly lovely Meryl Streep in heavy makeup and prosthetics to play The Witch.

“Meryl Streep ventures ‘Into the Woods’ as the Witch who wishes to reverse a curse so that her beauty may be restored,” Disney says in the description of the photo.

The film, based on the 1986 Broadway musical of the same name by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine, is directed by Rob Marshall and also stars big names like Johnny Depp, Emily Blunt, Chris Pine, Anna Kendrick, Tracy Ullman and James Corden.

It is now in production and will be out in theaters on December 25 next year.
