The assassination of US President John F. Kennedy remains, to this day, one of the most controversial and debated events in modern history. “Parkland,” an upcoming film, is meant to offer a fresh take on the case, albeit a dramatized one.

Written and directed by Peter Landesman, the film is supposed to open at the Toronto Film Festival in September, after which it will also arrive in theaters across the US.

For the time being, we have the first official stills from it, which you will find in the gallery below.

“Parkland” tells the story of the JFK assassination from the point of view of the hospital employees at the Parkland General Hospital in Dallas, where the President was taken after the attack.

It stars Billy Bob Thornton, Paul Giamatti, Zac Efron, Marcia Gay Harden, James Badge Dale, Jeremy Strong and Jacki Weaver.

A trailer is yet to be released.
