Since Lindsay Lohan’s Lifetime “Liz & Dick” was a total disaster, now’s the time to get really excited about another Elizabeth Taylor biopic, this time starring Helena Bonham Carter and Dominic West.

Above is the first official photo from the BBC produced drama, as obtained by Deadline.

Helena is, as always, a most exquisite woman and, in this particular pic, she seems to really capture Dame Liz’s distinctive look.

West, whom I have loved since “The Wire,” is giving me certain Jean Claude Van Damme vibes but I don’t mean that in a bad way. I’m sure both will be up to the task, since they’re both excellent actors.

“Unlike last year’s Lifetime biopic Liz & Dick, where Lohan co-starred with Grant Bowler’s Burton, all the drama in Burton And Taylor seems to be on screen as the film traces the divorced pair’s onstage reunion in a 1983 revival of the Noel Coward play, Private Lives. It ran for just 63 performances on Broadway,” Deadline writes.

“Jessica Pope exec produces and Lachlan McKinnon is producer with Richard Laxton directing from a screenplay by Made In Dagenham’s William Ivory,” adds the same media outlet.

BBC will distribute and air the drama both in the UK and abroad but, as of now, no specific date for it has been announced.
