2013 will be the year of the horror remakes, some more anticipated than others. The iconic “Evil Dead” is also getting the remake treatment, with EW providing the first official look at it in the photo above.

After so much has been said (and written) about this remake, this pic feels a bit of a letdown in that it’s hardly any different from dozens of photos released for other, budget, more or less accomplished horror / zombie flicks.

This being “Evil Dead,” one would have expected something a bit more specific like, say, a chainsaw, if not actually the Necronomicon book.

Both were included in the first footage premiered over the weekend at Comic-Con in New York, io9 reports and, yes, both got the crowd on the verge of hysteria.

More in the same “teaser”: lots of gore, the moving branches are back, boils, self-mutilation and, of course, a bunch of kids who are about to live the most terrifying – and final – hours of their lives.

“Evil Dead” drops on April 12, 2013. Here’s the full account on the teaser, which is yet to premiere online.
