MSI and Biostar unite to support Intel's next Big Thing

Announcing the date when the new Z170 motherboard will come out clearly gives us strong hints at when Intel will release its cutting-edge Skylake CPU 100-line architecture.

The new motherboard not only will come with a completely new LGA 1151 chipset but will also support the new DDR4 RAM memory type. The new memory architecture already made its entry on Intel's Haswell E server platforms a year ago and is not compatible with any earlier type of random access memory due to different signaling voltages, physical interface and other factors.

In addition, it's worth mentioning that more PCIe lanes will come with the new motherboard as the bandwidth is exponentially increased from the CPU to the chipset.

The signs are here

We've already made a rundown of the future Skylake models: Skylake-S (SKL-S), Skylake H (SKL-H), Skylake U (SKL-U), and Skylake Y (SKL-Y), and the latest rumors from this year's Computex confirm our prediction: Skylake's launch during IDF 2015 this August.

With the Z170 being the flagship chipset in the upcoming 100-series line for now, it is normal to think more will follow quite soon. Supporting chipsets usually become available before the launch of the CPUs themselves, so it seems the Skylake will probably hit the market in late August, early September.

The long-awaited new CPU line from Intel will change the tempo of the industry as now we experience only the calm before the storm. With Intel barely launching an unimpressive last line of compact Broadwells at Computex a few days ago, and with AMD slightly incrementally improving its APU line with Carrizo, major booms are expected at the turn of the year. Next CPUs like Intel's Skylake and AMD's Zen will be going toe to toe for the next years evolving into better and better products.

What we see now in the form of the Z170 is just a sample of the great things to come, and what a sight it will be to behold!
