As most of us expected, Intel unveiled yesterday its highly anticipated Centrino 2 platform, paving the way for the future of notebooks. As a result, we are already seeing a number of system manufacturers releasing their own implementations of the newly announced platform. In fact, OCZ has already decided to throw in a gaming notebook to satisfy the high-end requirements of gaming users.

OCZ is mostly known for offering computer system components,
such as memory, power supplies and cooling products. Since acquiring systems manufacturer Hypersonic, back in 2007, the company has also gained certain experience in the manufacturing of computer systems department as well - experience that proves to be just enough to enable it to roll out a new Montevina-based notebook. The upcoming product is meant to offer high-levels of performance catering to the needs of computer gaming enthusiasts.

The new OCZNBIM17A notebook has been build to offer OCZ's customers a high level of customization, allowing them to choose anything from the notebook's chipset to its graphics card, or maximum memory space. Based on Intel's Centrino 2 technology, the notebook can support Intel's Core 2 Duo T9600, P9500, T9400, P8600, P8400, or Intel's Core 2 Extreme X9100 processor. It can be equipped with either one of Intel's CM47, GM45 or PM45 Express chipsets, paired together with an ICH9M or ICH9M Enhanced.

As for graphics, which is a highly important aspect to any portable gaming system, OCZ's new notebook can incorporate either an ATI M88XT CrossFire graphics chip or even a single NVIDIA 8800 GTX. And with a 17-inch WUXGA display, it should be capable of offering the best visual gaming experience currently available on the market.

"The introduction of the Montevina platform by Intel enables OCZ to deliver a superior notebook computing experience to our system integrator clients and consumers," said Ryan Petersen, CEO of the OCZ Technology Group. "The new OCZNBIM17A will enthrall users with the exceptional performance of Intel's new Core 2 Extreme processor and is the ideal notebook for gaming and multimedia applications with cutting edge features including upgradable dual graphics, Blueray [sic], and HDMI." he added.
