The Silent Base 800 comes in three variations

The post-PC era may be real, but it's not quite here yet, which is why Be Quiet! thinks there's still time to make some cash from the desktop PC case market.

Normally, Be quiet! makes and sells only power supply units. The German company recently expanded though, to PC enclosures.

The Silent Base 800 is the first high-end model to leave its design labs, and that means it has everything a gamer could want: lots of interior space, good ventilation and a nice exterior design.

There are even doors on the front panel. Not just one but two. One covering the 5.25-inch external drive bays, and one that hides the two front intake fans from sight (and opens vertically, on bottom-mounted hinges).

The front panels actually double as noise isolators, and the same goes for the top and bottom panels. Everything is designed so that air can go in but the noise from the resulting airwaves doesn't escape.

A brand new anechoic material was applied to all side panels and front cover to maximize this effect.

Sales of the Be Quiet! Silent Base 800 chassis will begin on November 24 for $140 / €119. You'll get a choice between orange / white highlights or simple black.
