14 DAY TRIAL // What was somewhat uncertain yesterday has now been made official: singer Usher has just filed the divorce papers seeking legal separation from wife of almost two years Tameka Foster. Media Take Out and TMZ can both confirm that the divorce request has been registered, with a first hearing set to take place on July 15.
However, as of now, the publicist of neither Usher nor Tameka has confirmed the report. Media Take Out, an agency known for breaking several stories of this kind, stands by its claim though that the singer has initiated proceedings. “Media Take Out has exclusively learned that this afternoon Usher filed to divorce his wife of two years Tameka Raymond in Fulton County, Georgia (a suburb of Atlanta). The filing was made immediately before the office closed – to avoid media attention.” the e-zine says.
On the other hand, paparazzi agency TMZ also did some digging of its own and has been able to confirm that, indeed, the divorce papers have been filed as reported. As of now, the cause of separation has not yet been made public but, given the impressive amount of interest this is generating, it is believed Usher will be making a statement as regards it any hour now. Presumably, sources speculate, the divorce proceedings will be hushed, since both the singer and his wife are believed not to want to play the separation out in the media.
As we also informed you the other day, Usher is believed to have already moved on from the failed marriage, being seen on repeated occasions in the company of a woman later identified as a staffer at Island Deff Jam, Grace Miguel. Oddly enough, reports have it that Tameka was not even aware that Usher wanted to divorce her, despite the fact that they had been living separately for a couple of months now.
