The Japanese division of Sony has launched the first full commercial for the PlayStation Vita handheld, after putting out a teaser earlier, and it’s rather tame by the standards that the brand has set in the home market.

The main character is an actor named Eita Nagayama, who has some measure of popularity after appearing in Tokyo Friends: The Movie and Dear Doctor.

He seems very happy about the fact that he has managed to get his hands on a PlayStation Vita handheld, as seen in the helpfully bubbled shouts he lets out.

The PlayStation Vita is set to launch on December 17 in Japan and will be delivered about two months later on Western markets.

The new gaming platform is targeted at the hardcore gaming crowd and will allow them to enjoy gaming experiences that Sony says are very close to those offered by the PlayStation 3.

The advertising for the game will probably ramp up just before launch in all territories.
