14 DAY TRIAL // It’s been a dry spell without the number one (anti-)hero slash serial killer slash vigilante on TV, but all that will soon change this fall, when season 6 of “Dexter” premieres on Showtime. The first details on it are out.
Fans must already know that the finale of season 5, while not half as shocking and unnerving as that of the previous season, planted two possible story arcs.
As we also noted on a previous occasion, these are: the odds of Lumen returning to Dexter and the possibility that Deb may not be too shocked when she finds out what her foster brother does for fun, which she will do, soon enough.
As regards the former, no word yet – but Michael Ausiello of TV Line does have a few, very good leads on who may fill in the void left by Lumen (Julia Stiles) in case she doesn’t return.
Apparently, producers are thinking of bringing several new characters on board for season 6 and, while they may play just a minor part at first, they could possibly spell trouble for Dex (Michael C. Hall) in the long run.
After all, it wouldn’t be the first time that something like this happens.
As per Ausiello himself, the recurrent roles that are now being cast are as follows:
“Jamie: Described as an outgoing and fun Latina in her mid-20s, this Florida native relocates to Miami for grad school.
“Chicago Mike: New thirtysomething African-American homicide detective who possesses a finely turned BS detector. The Windy City native does not play well with Dexter others.
“Louis: A buddy of Masuka’s (C.S. Lee) who joins MMP as a new lab intern. Role calls for a Caucasian actor in his 30s who is ‘attractive in his own way’.”
Production on the new season of the show, a hit for Showtime since the early seasons, is believed to begin this month, in view of wrapping up in time for a September release, Ausiello also says.
The good news in this case is that more details on season 6 should emerge in the following weeks: for those hoping Lumen will return, an answer will come soon.
