DICE has announced the first details related to Battlefield: Bad Company 2, the game confirmed as coming in 2010 by Electronic Arts. The development studio put out a press release detailing the new elements in the second game in the series that began in 2008 with a fun but limited adventure, which has been reviewed by Softpedia. In the sequel, DICE says that the four members of Bad Company are “ready to blow up, shoot down, blast through, wipe out and utterly destroy anything that gets in their way.”

The big change for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will be the environments. The “B” Company will now fight its way through snowy mountains, surrounded by a wilderness of white, in dense jungles reminiscent of Central Asia and in dusty villages, in vicious urban combat.

DICE promises that the game will unleash the full potential of the Frostbite engine, created by the developers, enabling the player to destroy almost any piece of scenery around them. New weapons will be introduced and more vehicles will be added to the game with the player able to use them to move around quickly and bring superior firepower to bear on the enemies he encounters.

Karl Magnus Troedsson, the executive producer on the Battlefield franchise at DICE, said that “Bad Company 2 takes everything that players liked in the original and ups the ante – more vehicles, more destruction and more team play.” “Battlefield 1943 is a new take on a blast from the past classic coming to life with brand new technology that we’re eager to get into players hands.”

The first Battlefield: Bad Company game introduced the disciplinary challenged “B” or Bad Company and its quirky members who preferred to try and get rich rather than fight the war in which their nations were involved. The very existence of the sequel tells us that their quest for gold was rather unsuccessful the first time around.
