Not long ago, Sylvester Stallone was protesting that he would not make another “Rambo” movie, since the time had come for the franchise to come to an end and for him to stop putting himself through so much physical pain before it was too late. Like it or not, a fifth “Rambo” film is happening and, as promised, it marks a clear move from the other four previous films, as Ain’t It Cool News can also confirm.

When the rumor was confirmed last week, the confirmation also brought a promise from Sly himself that the fifth installment wouldn’t be anything like the other four movies. Judging from the synopsis that has leaked on the Internet, the changes will be more than fans will perhaps like to count, including a monster described as an “abomination” and a sidekick.

“A beast is loose somewhere north of the Arctic Circle… And the raging creature is headed south toward civilization, ready to wreak bloody devastation… It’s a job that Rambo and his 22-year-old hunting partner, Beau Brady, can’t turn down, but they and a team of highly skilled Special Forces Kill Team [sic] discover that the prey is beyond their wildest imagination, a half-human abomination created by a renegade agency through a series of outlawed genetic experiments… they’ll still have to confront the grim reality that it may have grown immortal.” the synopsis of the film, as posted by Ain’t It Cool News, reads.

The film will reportedly go by the official name of “Rambo V: The Savage Hunt,” the same document making now the rounds says. However, it’s not the title that has gotten fans extremely upset, as neither is the idea that their favorite terrorist-fighting hero will take up next a monster that may be (or not) an immortal creature created in the lab. Instead, fans are outraged at the idea that Stallone and the movie studio are even remotely considering giving John Rambo a sidekick.

Rambo has been and will always remain a loner, a man who can single-handedly take down entire armies. Reality and staying true to it has never been a concern with any “Rambo” movie, so this is perhaps why fans are not upset about the creature story. However, a sidekick is unheard of for Rambo, they conclude – even if the movie studio is yet to confirm the above synopsis as the real deal. Keep an eye on this space for when that happens.
