Australia has never had business WiMAX services until now. Great news for them, Alvarion will provide their wireless broadband solutions to Allegro from now on to further be offered to thousands of potential users.

It is quite unusual that this type of services have not been provided up to this point in Australia. Still, it's never too late for good things to happen, as this technology has high chances of helping the business area develop at a much faster pace. "WiMAX has a key role in establishing a robust, affordable, and efficient broadband network in Australia", commented Ted Pretty, Chairman of Allegro.

Australia's choice for Alvarion's services comes only natural, as this company is the world's leading provider of WiMAX and wireless broadband services. "Businesses in regional Australia cannot afford to wait any longer to receive advanced broadband services. Alvarion was the one company able to meet our deadlines for true WiMAX infrastructure while maintaining the required quality of service (QoS). Furthermore, Alvarion's WiMAX leadership and knowledge were clearly evidenced by the commercial trials we held with several top tier vendors over the past four months", further said Ted Pretty.

Allegro's goal is that of receiving access to the backhaul fiber and other network elements of the Optus Elders consortium (OPEL). The advantages of Alvarion's solutions for WiMAX have been the main reasons for Allegro to choose this company.

One excellent result is that it enables them to deliver up to 12 Mbps at 20 km. Moreover, they expect that further technology evolution will make it possible for these performances to increase even further.

Allegro Networks will be building their own network, utilizing the licensed 3.4 Ghz. That is great news for the Federal Government, as their investments are cut down to the minimum.
