The first  Automotive Linux Summit has been announced by The Linux Foundation. It will take place on November 28, 2011 in Yokohama, Japan.

The Automotive Linux Summit will gather people from the automotive industry, the Linux developer community and the mobility ecosystem, according to the organizers.

The summit will only last for one day, but there will be keynotes from major car manufacturers, such as BMW, Toyota and Nissan, and from the Linux kernel community.

Linux has a competitive advantage in the automotive industry due to its ability to support the long-term support needs of automakers, but we’re at the very beginning of what Linux will do to revolutionize the way people interact with their cars," said Jim Zemlin, executive director at The Linux Foundation.
