The first rumors regarding Asus' plans to introduce a dual-GPU version of the GTX 580 made their appearance online quite a while ago, and now these seem to be finally confirmed by a leaked company slide which comes to detail some of the card's features.

Just as the previous Asus Mars model, the dual GTX 580 Mars II will also be sold as a limited edition graphics card and its expected to carry quite some impressive specs.

In fact, Asus states that the Mars II features a 19-phase Super Alloy VRM, which is capable of delivering 15% better performance, 35 degrees Celsius cooler operation and 2.5 times longer lifespan than the reference GTX 590 design (presumably, since Asus doesn't mention what card the Mars II is compared with).

In addition to the changes brought to the PCB, the Mars II will also feature a dual-fan DirectCU cooler that can provide up to 600% more airflow, according to the company.

Sadly, we don't know what clocks speeds the two GF110 cores and the memory will be run at, but these should be higher than the GTX 590 frequencies.

Just like Nvidia's own dual-GPU solution based on the GF110 core, the Mars II also comes equipped with 3GB of GDDR5 video buffer, which is connected to the two GPUs via a pair of 384-bit wide memory interfaces.

The Mars II will be shipped together with a new version of the GPU Tweak application, that allows real-time frequency, voltage and fan speed adjustments for up to four card settings.

Nvidia's own take on a dual-GF110 graphics card, the GTX 590, was released at the end of March, but the card has failed to get the market's attention since it was bugged by quite a few design issues.

The Asus Mars II will be officially unveiled at the Computex 2011 fair, which will open its gates on May 31. (via Tyden.cz)
