The first pictures of the upcoming Ice Cream Sandwich have just been leaked in the wild, along with several interesting details about the mobile platform.

Although the screenshots show a striking resemblance to the current Android versions, both sources that published the pictures state that they are authentic and blame it on the fact that the Ice Cream Sandwich is still a work in progress.

Even though we only have four screenshots leaked courtesy to the guys over at AndroidPolice and RootzWiki, there are plenty of additional details to keep us feverish.

According to the sources, the screenshots were taken on a Nexus S running Ice Cream Sandwich build number IRK36B.

It appears that the next-generation of Android will be entirely 'bluish”, so those who are already fed up of Gingerbread's greenish color will probably be very excited.

However, Ice Cream Sandwich will also be about customization, so changing themes or lockscreens will be easier and much more diversified.

Another interesting addition is the camera's built-in “panorama mode,” which will be standard feature in Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS).

Furthermore, the next version of Android will be delivered with Google Shopper and NFC enabled devices will be able to utilize those features.

Some of Google's apps will possibly be redesigned/rethemed, but we only have confirmation for the Gmail application for the moment.

The notification bar that hasn't changed too much since Android 2.1 Eclair has been reworked and the Google Search bar is now showing on top of the home screen much like Honeycomb.

It is also worth mentioning that the Apps/Widget launcher has been redesigned to look like the one appearing in Honeycomb.

Still, perhaps one of the most important information is the fact that the changes expected will not have high requirements, which means that Ice Cream Sandwich will probably be pushed to older Android devices.

What's certain is that ICS will initially be available for the Nexus S, but the first smartphone to be delivered with Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box will be the Nexus Prime.
