Microsoft is reportedly working on a new Windows contraption called “Blue” that could be released as soon as 2013, but it’s not yet clear whether the company plans to offer it as a standalone OS or simply as a Windows 8 update.

A few days ago, we reported that some users are already testing what they call “Windows 9,” although chances are that they’re actually running an alpha version of Windows Blue.

A new photo published on BetaArchive comes to confirm that a Windows version is already in the works, with early testing versions currently installed on a number of online computers.

Although there’s no clear proof that this is the upcoming Windows iteration, the build number 9220 may be an indication that we’re actually talking about a Windows 8 update. The current Windows 8 build is 9200, so 9220 may actually be an upgrade for the operating system rolled out in October.
