They changed the name from “3DMark for Windows8” to simply 3DMark

Well-known computer benchmarking software company FutureMark just presented a new video demonstration of the company’s most popular benchmarking suite. We’re talking about the “3DMark for Windows8” video card benchmarking software, but the company simplified the name.

Now, the program is called simply “3DMark” and seems to be using heavy tessellation. The company is calling it the world's first unified graphics benchmark, mainly because it will use DirectX 9, 10 and DirectX 11 technology.

MSI's logo is present all over the benchmark.

Because of the DirectX 10 and 11 requirements, the program is only compatible with Microsoft Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8 operating systems.

We’re quite disappointed with Microsoft’s decision not to provide WindowsXP support with their DirectX 10 and DirectX 11 API, but that’s all in the past.

We’re not sure if the naming scheme will remain like this, but that’s not as important at the moment.
