We last heard of Leap Motion technology just a few days ago when HP announced it was implementing the system into 11 of its desktops and all-in-one machines.

The same company announced back in September the addition of the same technology into its Envy 17 laptop. Now Leap Motion has revealed it plans to port its 3D gesture-control systems to mobile devices like tablets and smartphones.

According to the company’s CEO Machael Buckward, the first slates incorporating 3D gesture control could arrive on the market as soon as Q3 or Q4 2014, since the mechanical and physical parts of the equation have been solved, reports TheNextWeb. Now the developing team is focusing on discovering new in-depth features that could be added to the overall experience.

“[For tablets] it’s about creating a three dimensional experience for interacting with the tablet. There are some unique things though that we’re taking to OEMs about because you could use that 3D space to interact with screens that are distant as well.”

“We started with PCs but we want to be in tablets, phones and in the future TVs, head mounted display and even things like cars.”

Leap Motion has also announced an update to its software scheduled for January 2014, which is expected to bring more detailed tacking of the user’s hands and allow visibility of the hands on-screen.
