BenQ finally released its first 27-inch liquid crystal display monitor when it introduced the M2700HD earlier today. The monitor will perfectly play the part of a main display for a PC or that of secondary output for laptops and, more notably, it even performs better than similar television sets through its superior resolution. The monitor will be especially helpful in comfortable viewing two web pages or multiple windows of any type at the same time.

The M2700HD can connect to all digital devices without the need for constant plugging/unplugging or switching of cables. The monitor can receive high-bandwidth and deep color video content (whether from set-top boxes, gaming consoles or Blu-ray players) through its dual HDMI 1.3 inputs and, furthermore, its SPDIF connectors accommodate all traditional AV devices such as VCRs, DVD players and cameras. Video sources may be switched remotely through the use of the smart remote control, which also allows for accessing the OSD.

The actual capabilities of the monitor are a maximum full-HD resolution of 1080p (which is quite impressive for such a large screen) compared to TVs with similar prices, which only reach 720p. The monitor integrates a 10-watt EmbracingSound surround sound system and reduces 3D noise through the use of the patented Senseye Human Vision Technology. The Senseye also provides the displays with the ability to optimize picture quality through six calibration techniques that affect the dynamic contrast ratio, hue, saturation and dual-trace sharpness. The technology also calibrates true color displays, being capable of outputting six viewing modes.

The standard mode is used when accessing the Internet or when performing office tasks, while TV and DVD content is displayed in the Movie mode (naturally). The Game, Photo and sRGB display modes are self explanatory (with the sRGB being able to deliver a total color consistency across any and all devices) and the Eco mode is used when power saving is needed.

The aforementioned EmbracingSound 10-watt surround system uses a new surround technology, which delivers full spatial information and, thanks to the 16:9 aspect ratio, the M2700HD from BenQ is also capable of a high-quality video output by utilizing each and every available pixel to enable true-to-source proportions without distortion.

The monitor will become globally available, according to the press release, in “mid of December,” which should be within the following week (or two weeks), considering that we are, practically, already in the middle of December.
