Sony Ericsson has changed its mind

Great news for all those who have been worrying about the fact that Sony Ericsson has previously announced that they intend to stop bringing firmware updates for the P990i and W950i phone models. New ones will be available quite soon, which has brought appreciations from owners of handsets coming from this company.

The two P990i and W950i Sony Ericsson phone models were far from presenting any problems at the time when update development stopped. The company had made efforts in finding solutions for these situations, but failed to do so and decided to stop trying at a certain point, in order to save resources.

"In response to recent feedback from users and as a result of additional internal testing, Sony Ericsson has determined to offer a further firmware update for the P990 and W950 Walkman phone. This move illustrates Sony Ericsson's ongoing commitment to its existing 'smartphone' customers and the company's desire to be responsive to customer feedback in order to provide an optimal user experience", said a Sony Ericsson Developer Support representative.

The announcement has been made on the company's forum, where a special thread had been opened, concerning the fact that firmware updates for P990/w950/M600 phone models had been stopped.

Actually, it is quite hard to conceive a 100 percent bug-free handset software. Still, owners of the three phone models expressed their joy for seeing that Sony Ericsson has not given up trying to fix at least some of the existing ones with their devices.

The P990i mobile phone has presented a large number of unacceptable bugs for a handset which comes for quite a high price. This includes rebooting when a call is received, email application crashes and compatibility with third party software, among others.

The announcement posted on the SE Developer World Forum also states that further updates will be available starting with August 2007.
