Transcend has unveiled its latest SATA III 6Gb/s mSATA Solid State Drive (SSD) that supports TRIM, SMART, and NCQ commands.

The MSA740 model SSD is compatible with Dynamic Power Management, as well as Intel’s Smart Response Technology (ISRT), thereby allowing the user to use the SSD as cache memory.

The Update Utility will bring the device’s firmware to the latest version, namely 5.0.4. It is compatible with all of Microsoft’s operating systems except the latest one, and using it is quite easy.

To begin, start the utility, and after listing all devices, select the SSD you wish to update, hit the “Update Firmware…” button and select the firmware file (22885_TS64GMSA720_FW504.vic and 22890_TS128GMSA720_FW504.vic for the 64GB and 128GB variant, respectively)

After the process is finished, you can click “Rescan For Drives” for confirmation.

You should keep in mind that it is necessary to run the utility using administrator privileges and that Microsoft’s Advanced Host Controller Interface (AHCI) must be enabled on the computer.

Also, it is recommended not to turn off the device during the process and to back up your data so that no loss occurs.

This said, follow the link below and keep your SSD up to date.
