Sony Xperia S, the company’s current flagship smartphone, is expected to receive a new software update in the near future.

Apparently, Sony has already got the update ready to go, and has also received the necessary certification from PTCRB.

The new firmware will arrive as version 6.1.A.2.34, after being certified yesterday, and should replace the latest certified software for the mobile phone, namely version 6.1.A.0.454.

According to some, this might be the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean platform for the Xperia S, though XperiaBlog notes that it could be only another Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the device.

Sony also got the new firmware (featuring version number 6.1.F.0.91) certified for Xperia NX (SO-02D), Xperia S’s Japanese counterpart, as well as for the Xperia acro HD (SO-03D). The company did not offer info on when the new update might arrive.
