As Sony Mobile is gearing up for the release of a new platform version to its Xperia devices launched last year, new firmware for these phones is receiving the necessary certification.

PTCRB has just certified firmware 4.1.A.0.562 for four of Sony’s handsets set to taste the new Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, namely Xperia arc, Xperia arc S, Xperia neo V and Xperia ray.

There are no official details available on what this software includes, but the guys over at XperiaBlog claim that this could actually be the ICS platform for these phones, (the beta version of Android 4.0 for the Xperia arc S and Xperia PLAY was prefixed 4.1.X.X.X).

In roughly two weeks, Sony Mobile is expected to start delivering the Ice Cream Sandwich platform for three Xperia handsets, namely the Xperia arc S, neo V and ray.

The company will push the update to more of its last year's phones starting in late May, early June.
