The development team at Campo Santo announces that its first video game will be called Firewatch and uses both exploration and interaction in order to tell the story of one man who is tasked with making sure that the wilderness of Wyoming does not go up in flames.

The footage looks great and the development team says that the only other human that the main character can interact with is his supervisor, Delilah, with which he seems to have a rather complicated relationship.

Campo Santo states, “In Firewatch you play as a man named Henry who has retreated from his messy life to work as a fire lookout in the Wyoming wilderness. Perched high atop a mountain, it’s your job to look for smoke and keep the wilderness safe. An especially hot and dry summer has everyone on edge.”

The development team is made up of video game veterans who have previously worked at studios such as Double Fine, 2K Marin and Telltale Games.

Firewatch seems to be the kind of experience that will focus on the narrative element first and on the exploration second, and the voice acting seen in the reveal trailer is quite impressive.

Firewatch will be launched on the PC at some point in 2015.
