Firefox for Android Gets Twitter Address Bar Search

A new add-on is now available for the users of Mozilla's Firefox for Android mobile browser, bringing them closer to their accounts on the micro social networking site Twitter.

We're referring to the new Twitter Address Bar Search add-on, which is meant to bring the Twitter search to Firefox' Awesome Bar on mobile devices.

With the new release, one would be able to easily search on Twitter while browsing on the Internet using Firefox for Android.

One of the features that this add-on comes with would be that its installation won't require the restart of the mobile browser, so users could continue browsing without interruption.

“Great news! Twitter has released an add-on for Firefox that brings Twitter search to the Firefox Awesome Bar on both desktop and mobile,” a recent post on Mozilla's mobile blog reads.

“The Twitter Address Bar Search add-on makes it easy to complete Twitter searches in Firefox. With this new featured mobile add-on, you can discover more relevant Twitter search results directly from the Firefox Awesome Bar when you’re on the go.”

We should also note that the new Twitter Address Bar Search comes with support for the latest flavor of Firefox for Android, and that it's quite easy to get started as soon as the add-on has been installed.

On the Awesome Screen, one would have to tap the Awesome Bar, which would enable the direct searching for #hashtags and @usernames.

“To install from Firefox on your Android device, swipe to the left, tap on Browser Tools, go to your Add-ons Manager and select Twitter Address Bar Search from the list of featured add-ons,” the aforementioned blog post explains.

For those out of the loop, we should note that the latest flavor of Firefox for Android, namely version 5, was released in beta only a few weeks ago, bringing the browser closer to the desktop variant, and marking the switch to a rapid release system.
