According to Internet News, Firefox reached the 10 percent quota of the browser market and this should trigger a very serious campaign led by many corporations which will adopt the open source browser.
Citing the NetApplications site tracker, the number of Firefox users reached 9.57 percent as of last month, which is a big deal considering the
browser gained one percent compared to November 2005.
Either way, this doesn't pose a real threat (yet) to Microsoft and the Internet Explorer, which still holds 86 percent of the world's browsing, while Mac-based Safari has a 3,07 percent market share. Compared to all of these figures, Opera is practically struggling to break free passed the one percent quota as it now own only 0.55 percent of the market. Netscape is not doing so well lately, as it dropped from 1.25 percent of the market to 1.24.
Internet News claims that once Firefox surpassed the 10 percent margin, it will enter e new dimension where major companies will start adopting massively the open source browser, all based on the continuous increase of the Firefox market share, but also of the qualities it offers compared to the competing applications.
